Lost Pets
If you have lost your pet please:
- Call us and we will place your pet on the lost/found register at our practice.
- Contact any other veterinary practices in the surrounding area.
- Ensure that your contact details are correct on the microchip database. Contact Wollongong Council on 4227 7111 to confirm the correct details and let them know that your pet is missing. Also contact any other private microchipping registries your pet is on.
- Door knock the neighbours and place signs up around the neighbourhood (such as the local shops) with a picture of your pet and a contact phone number.
- Visit the RSPCA/Pound in 54 Industrial Road, Unanderra to ensure that your pet is not there.
Stray Animals
A Stray animal is any dog which is in a place (other than where it is ordinarily kept) unaccompanied by a responsible person. Stray animals are the responsibility of the local council. We can not accept stray animals because it is illegal and also carries with it a health risk to the other animals in our hospital. If you find a stray animal please deliver it to the pound in Industrial Road, Unanderra. If the pound is closed there are locked boxes provided to place the animal in. The dog is placed into the box which has water supplied and the box is then padlocked. The Pound officers will then take the animal out of the box in the morning.
The pound does not just euthanase animals. The animal is scanned for a microchip and all attempts are made to get the animal back home.
