Health insurance for pets

Is there medicare for pets?

Clients often state to use that they wish there was medicare for dogs. While it is true there is no medicare available, there is medical insurance available for your pets.

Why insure my pet?

The cost of treating your pet can be quite high if they are sick or injured. We wish to do the best we can for your pet but unfortunately at times money tends to stand in the way. Everybody has their limit on what they can afford to spend. Pets always seem to get sick or injured at the most inopportune times eg. at christmas and when you are about to go on holidays. It is at these times that you are often short on cash and treatment of your pet may need to be compromised.

Pet insurance removes this financial barrier, allowing us to do our job properly. We would like you to consider insurance for your pet so we do ot have to worry about compromising the care of your pet.

How much does it cost?

How much the premiums are depends on the insurer and what sort of excess you wish to pay. It may be worth shopping around.

Who provides pet insurance?

There are several different providers available now. Some insurance companies provide pet insurance as an add-on to your home insurance. There are also several pet insurance providers available.

Are there exclusions and cover for routine preventative care?

Again this depends upon the provider. There are always some exclusions and as a general rule pre-existing illness is not covered. You will need to ask the individual providers for their rules in this regard. Some policies will cover the cost of some routine treatments such as heartworm prevention or vaccinations.
