Raising awareness of FIV
Have you heard of FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus)? FIV is a virus of cats that causes a syndrome called feline AIDS which is similar to HIV AIDS in people. While there are similarities between the two viruses there are differences as well. The good news is FIV does not infect people, cause HIV or AIDS in people.
FIV is fairly prominent in the cat population in our area but the good news continues- There is a vaccination against FIV to prevent your cat getting infected.
To find out more information you can read our FIV fact sheet or take the Feline AIDS Risk Test on crownvet.com.au to find out if your cat is at risk of contracting FIV.
